A Colts AND Patriots fan, huh? Interesting.
Season Opener: NYG 16, WAS 7 Good start for the Giants. Of course there was a ton of emotion at the beginning, with the Lombardi Trophy brought out for the fans and the Giants coming in as the defending champions. Eli Manning actually looked good in the first half, making some good completions under pressure and checking down to other receivers; but in the second half, he looked like old Eli, making some questionable bad throws (one INT) and overthrowing open receivers. Their ground game certainly saved them. Jacobs and Ward were superb throughout. Just ask Laron Landry how well Jacobs ran: ![]() I'm counting on my Panthers to do better than last season, and all the signs seem to be pointing to it so far in the preseason. Now that the games actually count, they'd better come through. |

Well, I was channel surfing today, but I was primarily watching the Eagles-Rams matchup.
What a massacre. 38-3. Donovan McNabb is such a beast. It's amazing how much flack he gets and time and time again he steps it up. I'm praying he makes it through the season uninjured. The Eagles are looking very, very good.

What a great, great day for Panthers fans.
Only the most deluded of hardcore fans would have given us much of a chance going out west to play a Super-Bowl-shortlisted team with a strong D and one of the best 3 players in the league without our own best WR. So what happens? An unheralded WR comes through with the game-winning TD catch to top off just under 100 yards receiving, we hold LT to just over 100 yards, which is awful for him, and Delhomme, so often considered overrated, comes through with a superb 2-minute drill. Absolutely awesome. Bad news for Brady. Much as I don't like him, that really sucks for him. Nicely-played debut by Favre in his first game as a Jet (still seems strange to say that). Steelers' much-maligned offensive line was absolutely dominant against a very good defensive frontline. Willie Parker showing no ill effects from missing most of last year either. Great day for him. Michael Turner was superb as LT's backup, and you just knew he was going to do well if ever given a starting job. 220 yards in his debut as a starter, though? Wow. McNabb looking good, too. If he can do that against better opposition than the Rams, he'll silence a lot of critics. DeSean Jackson could very well be the find of the season for the Eagles. My pictures of the week. I love good action pics as well as ones that really communicate the intensity in the game, especially those taken pre-snap. Last edited by Mark; 09-08-2008 at 12:16 PM. |

Chiefs safety Pollard regrets Brady’s injury
I can't believe he's even got to defend himself. And in the meantime, any bets on if would have flagged the play if Deltha O'Neal was a Chiefs DB and if Dwayne Bowe was a Patriots WR? Last time the Pats had to replace their established QB with an unknown starter, they hit paydirt back in 2001. At least Brady was a starter at Michigan. Cassel has never even started a game at the college or pro levels. He looked more like a game manager than a game breaker yesterday. Jets and Bills from the AFC East. My thoughts on Week 1:
1. J-E-T-S. If there's one thing Favre loves, it's a challenge, and the stage is set for him to lead the Jets to bigger and better. Best keep their eye on the Bills, though. Laugh all you want--they're going to be a dark horse. 2. Vince, NFL fans are notoriously impatient. If you can't handle a bit of booing, get out of the game. Thank goodness you're in the relatively friendly confines of Nashville, rather than Oakland or New York. 3. Michael Turner was superb as Tomlinson's backup, and he's fully-deserving of his starring role now. He won't get 220 yards every game, but if he can keep this up, he'll be a superb pickup for the Falcons. 4. If the Panthers can beat a team considered by some as the AFC representative for the Super Bowl in their own stadium minus their best wide-receiver and with a QB just coming back off Tommy John surgery, then just how good can they be? 5. The Raiders are bad. Really, really, really bad. 6. So are Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic. Memo to ESPN: Please don't EVER put them in a broadcast booth ever again. 7. Eli Manning would do well to figure out which Eli he's going to be. New Eli was confident, composed, and looked great in the first half on Thursday. Old Eli was shaky and made poor throws in the second half. 8. The Pittsburgh Steelers would like the world to know that their offensive line will be just fine. 9. Aaron Rodgers didn't look bad at all.......up until he attempted a Lambeau Leap. 10. Watching Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Steven Jackson in action on Sunday, along with a subpar LaDainian Tomlinson, think teams are still going to allow their stars to sit the entire preseason next time around? |

Police: Search for Young because of suicide talk
Well, I guess that explains why he felt so down after getting booed a bit at home. Wonder what the heck is going on in his head? |

2-0!!!!!!
And what a comeback for it, too. Briggs should clearly have been flagged for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Jake's slide, but the no-call was just the thing Carolina needed to light a fire under their asses. |
