Campbell eyes United first team
Striker keen to prove a point at Old Trafford

Quote:
Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell is determined to force his way into Sir Alex Ferguson's first-team plans.

United manager Ferguson allowed Campbell to join Hull on loan in October 2007 and the 20-year-old has since proved a big hit at the KC Stadium.

Campbell's 14 goals have fired Hull - who travel to Barnsley on Tuesday for a match which can be seen live on Sky Sports 1 - to fourth place in the Championship to make promotion to the Premier League a realistic possibility.

Hull manager Phil Brown is keen to secure Campbell on a permanent deal, but the England Under 21 international is eager to prove to Ferguson that he can be a success at Old Trafford.

"I am contracted to Manchester United for another two years and I can't say for sure what is going to happen there," Campbell - who also spent the 2006/07 season on loan at Royal Antwerp - said in the Daily Star.

"But I've come out on loan this season and done quite well for myself and the team.

"I wanted to get some first-team experience and go back to United a better player.

"Hopefully, with the experience I've gained, I will be able to go and compete for a place in the first team at Manchester United."

Campbell, though, acknowledges that he will face a tough task in forcing his way in front of Wayne Rooney and the Premier League's top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo in Ferguson's pecking order.

"I know that it will be difficult because of the likes of Rooney and Ronaldo," Campbell added.

"But I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I didn't go back and give it a try."

He has done pretty well for him self on loan, scored 14 goals, so well done for him for that. He is also prepared to work his way into the first team which is the right attitude to have. Good luck to him.

been watching him when I get a chance looks like one for the future, hes got great pace and knows how to find the net think if we sign a big name striker he could be sent on loan to a prem club maybe Hull if they get promoted. Would like to see him given a chance.

Hopefully Fergie will give him chances to prove what it's capable of.

Thumbs up Frazier Campbell - 05-03-2008, 09:39 AM

I am a ballboy for the reserves and Frazier Campbell is by far the best player and can make something out of nothing.Danny Welbeck has great control and a good shot on him but he lacks pace. campbell deserves a place in the first team over welbeck. if he doesn't make the first team this season he may look else were and that would be a big loss.
welbeck is only 18 and campbell is 20 he deserves his chance.

I hope to see him play in our pre-season games in summer. If he manages to get into the first team, then great, but he might have to sit on the bench a lot. I think if Saha leaves we might need a more prominent and experienced 3rd striker before we give the younger players regular appearances.

hull promoted .. 15 goals for them in 32 starts .. he was their highest goal scorer ..

not bad at all

loaned out next season again .. hopefully

dont think we should sell him now ... the hull boss did say he would be willing to pay upto 5m to keep campbell

good pace for the guy and has been very good for hull with many assists as well.

i do like the attitude of believing in forcing his way into the utd setup, but i think another loan season at hull in the prem will help him further!

if he comes through the season playing against the best, then it will add to his experience and also allow utd to see him against the big guns
