Default Huntelaar flattered by Real - 03-23-2008, 04:35 PM

I don't know how I feel about this.

On one hand, I really wouldn't mind seeing Huntelaar coming to United. His price point for some reason is very low [15 million]. Great finisher and has been having a magnificent season with Ajax.

On the other hand, I'm wondering:

a. why real needs another striker?
b. Could Huntelaar be a success in the physical EPL?
c. Should United keep the faith in Saha? [tell me you didn't smile reading that ]

Interested to see where he ends up.

Quote:
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has admitted that he is flattered by strong interest in his services from Real Madrid after the Spanish giants were linked with a summer move for him.

The Ajax striker is believed to be high on Los Merengues' priority list for their end-of-season recruitment as Bernd Schuster has told the board that he wants a new goalscorer.

With Javier Saviola and Roberto Soldado both out of favour, Huntelaar has been targeted but he is remaining calm amid all the media stories about his future.

Flattered

"Of course, it is great to hear that a club with so much history is watching me. What I like most about them is that they are a team of champions," he told AS.

"But look, the reality is that these are only rumours, just like the talk of other teams looking at me. I have to wait as I cannot live like this.

"We shall see what happens. For the time being I have only heard rumours.

"Everything will depend on any offers I receive and what is best for me and what is best for Ajax. I have a contract here until 2010.

"The offer of a new deal is also on the table and I will see about that when the summer comes and make a decision."

Future

Huntelaar feels that he could continue his impressive goalscoring form abroad and revealed that he expects to be able to test that theory one day.

"I think that if someone is capable of scoring goals in Holland then they can do the same somewhere else. The future will show whether that is true," he continued.

Finally, the former PSV forward stated that he had not spoken to Ruud van Nistelrooy, Wesley Sneijder or Rosyton Drenthe about Madrid while on international duty.

"I talk to them about general things, not a lot about Real Madrid or Spanish football. But they do only say good things about the club and the league," he added.

a. Because RvN is getting old and prone to injuries. also Higuain is useless, and Raul ageing as well. They seem to just hate Saviola
b. I think that he would fit right in. until proven contrary
c. he could still be our last reserve, he doesn't to be unhappy with this. but I think he's past his prime, how can you compete with so many injury breaks in your game

IF Saha would regain his form, I would keep him and let Real have Huntelaar.

Rooney, Tevez, Saha (fully fit and in form), ManUcho . Why the hell would you need one more striker?

I hope that's how it's going to be. Not that I don't like Huntelaar, just that I like the team that SAF built and wouldn't like to see anyone leaving or anyone coming, well maybe except Aguero or Saviola or Rivaldo
