Bit of a blow seeing as we were after him (allegedly) but hopefully this opens the door for Richards to come. Would love him at OT

I'm not concerned about him. He could be a good player, but not for that much money. I think we should get Philip Lahm if we really need to.

16.5 for a wing back. hey must be out of their minds. He better be three times the player Evra is, because he cost us 5 mil.

Quote:
José Bosingwa has agreed terms with Chelsea Football Club and will join the club after Euro 2008. He has agreed a three-year contract.

Chelsea's early summer capture, José Bosingwa, has been speaking following his agreement to join for next season, explaining his decision to move from Portugal.

The right-back leaves Porto where he enjoyed plenty of success, including four league championships and a Portguese Cup win. However the lure of the Barclays Premier League and Chelsea in particular proved too great to resist.

'To improve yourself you need to be playing alongside the best and the Premier League has the best players in the world so that is where I need to be,' said the 25-year-old on Monday evening.

'I had some time to think about it and I knew some clubs were interested in me and when I heard one was Chelsea, I thought okay.

'I couldn't speak to [former Porto team-mates Ricardo Carvalho and Paulo Ferreira] before I signed because everything was done in secret, but now I am sure I am going to speak to them and they are going to help me get to know Chelsea better.'

Bosingwa is also looking forward to knowing Claude Makelele due to their shared Congolese origins, our new defender having moved to Portugal at the age of nine.

He now leaves the Iberian country a reigning champion with Porto having stormed to the title. As a right-back who enjoys attacking 'very, very much', he can also be proud of last season's defensive record with his side conceding just 13 times in 30 matches.

'We won the championship five games before the end.' Bosingwa recalls. 'We are a team that had been together for three years and we played with a lot of freedom.

'We didn't have any interference from the press and Porto is also the biggest team in Portugal and this is reflected in the results.'

They have been less successful however when facing Chelsea over the last four seasons.

'It is difficult because Chelsea is a very experienced team and they put a lot of pressure on you. In the first season when Chelsea was with José Mourinho it was more difficult for us. In the second time we played I think we did a little bit better, but it was still difficult.'

Chelsea fans may have an early chance to assess our new man when Euro 2008 gets under way although Bosingwa remains unsure whether he or Valencia's Miguel will be Portugal's first choice right-back.

Either way, he will arrive in London in July in detemined mood.

'I promise the fans that I am going to work very hard so every weekend they are going to leave the games happy. They can be sure I am going to work very hard so the team can be very successful with me.'

he is very good...trust me...you'll see.. but i dont know if going to Chelsea was the best choice...
