Default Palace prodigy Bostock set to join Tottenham - 05-14-2008, 10:02 PM

How is it that Spurs seem to get the beat on players before the big 4?

Hutton, Zokora, Berbatov, Modoric to name a few.

Seems they have beaten the big 4 again with this signature. Have read a lot about him. Any good?

Quote:
John Bostock is on the verge of signing for Tottenham after Crystal Palace reluctantly agreed to sell the most sought-after teenager in the country in a deal that could be worth millions to the Championship club.

Bostock, who made his debut for Palace aged 15 years 289 days, was told he could leave Selhurst Park last Wednesday and Tottenham sporting director Damien Comolli believes he has persuaded the England Under 17 midfielder, also wanted by Barcelona, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, to move to White Hart Lane.

Palace, who hope to overturn a 2-1 deficit against Bristol City in the Championship play-offs second leg on Tuesday evening, are demanding around £5million, with a series of bonus clauses dependent on club and country appearances.

Palace season ticket-holder Bostock wants to be close to his family and that will reinforce his decision to stay in London.

His schoolboy contract at Selhurst Park expired last week and although Palace offered him a professional deal he has decided to pursue his football education at another club.

Bostock burst on to the scene when he made his debut in Palace's 2-0 loss against Watford in October and went on to make another four appearances for the club.

He came through Palace's excellent academy system but it is understood that Bostock's chances have been limited because of the more direct approach used by current manager Neil Warnock.

Yep, just read this news. I really don't like this kind of players. I understand that money are important, but at 17???

Anyway, with Eto'o close to signing for Spurs I doubt that this youngster will get many chances to play so I think that his move to Spurs is a huge mistake and it will prove to be a total flop.

Spurs capture Bostock

John Bostock, the most sought after 16-year-old in the country, will complete his move from Crystal Palace to Tottenham tomorrow.

The White Hart Lane club are laying the foundations of the Juande Ramos era and Bostock, in a Sportsmail exclusive interview today, denies he is joining for financial reasons.

Tottenham are looking long term with their capture of Bostock, who will be fast-tracked into the senior squad for a pre-season trip to Spain but will then be nurtured in the reserve team next season.

The midfielder and his father - both Palace fans - have upset the club's chairman Simon Jordan by moving.

"I might get them to send their season tickets back," said Jordan. "Unfortunately, we are talking about pounds, shilling and pence when we should be talking about the development of a 16-year-old."

I guess we can name this transfer as official. Hope to see this young lad next season in EPL.
