Default City's shocking last-minute bids *Spoilers*

Quote:
Manchester City have lodged bids for Valencia's David Villa and Stuttgart's Mario Gomez.

The Blues have already seen an offer of over £30million accepted for Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov, but have made approaches for a further two attacking talents.

With Berbatov also believed to be in discussions with Manchester United, and Real Madrid thought to have entered the race for the Bulgarian, City are keen to keep their options open.

Los Che star Villa, who won the Golden Boot at Euro 2008 this summer, has been the centre of transfer speculation all summer, but had appeared to have accepted that his future lay in Spain.

Meanwhile, Gomez shot to prominence after scoring 28 goals for Stuttgart last season, immediately signalling him out as one of Europe's hottest properties.

Serious

Money would not appear to be a problem for City following Abu Dhabi United Group's takeover of the club on Monday.

Head of that consortium, Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim, confirmed that the ambitious Premier League outfit continue to chase a number of potential targets prior to the closure of the transfer window at midnight on Monday.

"I am hopeful about Berbatov, but I need to speak to our colleagues in England to see what the latest is," he said.

"We have bids in for three players. There is Berbatov, but there is also David Villa and Mario Gomez. We have bids in for Villa and Gomez and I am waiting to hear whether we have been successful with those.

"Funds are available, and transfers such as these show we are serious."
Sky Sports | Football | News | City in for Villa and Gomez

As much as I doubt any of these transfers to take place, you have to admire their desire to strengthen their squad with last minute bids. I think the new owner is a dreamer, as was the ex-boss.

Come on, Villa would never choose Shity over Real. There is a possibility for Gomez to agree. And it was rather a stupid move to bid for Berbatov, when the Bulgarian has made it clear that he wants to join United.

im still shocked by how they can go from battling relegation to aiming for 'top 4' in 2 seasons?!

i hope this doesnt get out of control in terms of transfer fee's.

apparantly this new guy is worth more than Roman Abramovich

Yeah, they are a bit too optimistic with htose bids but I do agree that if anyone was likely to join I think it would be Gomez. One thing for sure is that it is set to be a rather dramatic last few hours of the transfer window.

Marca radio have just announced that Real have accepted a 40m euro bid from the world's richest club (middle eastlands) for Robinho. Wow Kenyon must be pissed if this goes through.

CORRECTION;
City has signed him

Al Fahim also has Thierry Henry and the Brazilian Ronaldo, released by Milan at the end of last season, in his sights. "I need a good player who can provide energy. Thierry Henry and Ronaldo can also add the confidence and the experience and provide the mix with the younger players," Al Fahim said.

Fat Ronaldo ? Energy ?

Are they going to Burn him and use the heat to produce energy ?

Maybe the bloke hasn't watched football since 98 !

As none of these transfers haven't gone through, this thread is closed.

You can comment on Robinho's move to City here.
