Default Anelka joins Chelsea - 01-11-2008, 03:17 PM

So what impact do you lot anticipate him having during his stint at Chelsea?

Nicolas Anelka has completed his move from Bolton Wanderers to Chelsea for a fee of £15million.

Reports suggest that the France international, who becomes Avram Grant's first signing as Chelsea manager, has penned a four-and-a-half-year deal with The Blues.

Grant had been keen to seal Anelka's switch to Stamford Bridge before Saturday's clash with Tottenham as the Israeli is without Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou, who are away at the African Nations Cup, and Andrei Shevchenko (ankle).

The 28-year-old forward has netted 11 goals in 22 appearances so far this season and joined Bolton from Fenerbahce in 2006 for £7million.

A statement on Chelsea's official website read: "Chelsea Football Club and Bolton Wanderers can confirm that terms have been agreed between the clubs for the transfer of Nicolas Anelka."

Once Lampard and Essien return to the Chelsea lineup, I see this transfer working major dividends for Chelsea.

One thing no one cannot say about Anelka is he doesn't score goals. He's going to have a field day.

I'm interested to see how he fits in with the other strikers. And I'm also interested how Drogba feels about this. Chelsea cannot keep all those strikers happy. Either Shev or Drogba will leave. Its just a matter of when.

drogba has stated on many occasions his desire to leave chelsea. Apparently he didnt even want to join and tried to leave every summer he has been at the club.

imo he is a replacement for drogba, not just till the ACN is over but for the future too.

A worrying sign. Chelsea signed him to cover for Drogba. Can't really see him starting after that. They probably bought him to stop us from doing so. But I hope he has a good time sitting on the bench.

They better hope he doesnt get moody... he's a good player but i wouldn't say he was worth £15M. If he gets the right service he'll score goals, simple as.

I'm almost positive that Drogba will leave in the summer, and Shever will be leaving soon (I think to AMerica at some point).

I think he will stay at Chelsea, excluding Real -> PSG he always seems to be making a move to a higher team, I think there are maybe 2 teams above Chelsea, that they would trasfer him too. Bacelona and Real, he has already been to Madrid once and only saw 19 games, and Barcelona aren't really in need of a striker.

As a player I think he is a great signing for Chelsea. unfortunately, as he can definately provide goals.

However I'm not sure on how he will fit in to their plans, compared with all their other multi-million pound players :/
