Default Ben Foster Loan?! - 03-17-2008, 02:04 PM

Why loan Ben, when PIG is the one that needs to go?

Foster still expects United loan exit | Manchester Utd | English Premier League | Football News from TEAMtalk

Foster still expects United loan exit

Ben Foster is still expecting to spend some time on loan away from Manchester United despite making his debut for the Red Devils this weekend.

With Edwin van der Sar injured and Tomasz Kuszczak suspended against Derby on Saturday, Foster was handed his United debut between the sticks.

Despite impressing in the slender 1-0 success over the lowly Rams, Foster has no thoughts of finishing the season as the club's No.1.

The former Watford loanee does not think it would be right to be bumped ahead of either keeper in the Sir Alex Ferguson's pecking order, although he is still keen to play first-team football.

"I've only been back from injury two weeks and I was delighted to get the game, but I'm not looking to overtake the other guys," said Foster.

"If I was Edwin van der Sar or Tomasz Kuszczak and I was being kept out of the team I'd be very disappointed.

"I don't expect to be in the team. I may have to go out on loan for the rest of the season to play some games and then maybe next season it will be a different story."

Who would that be?

Well, I think Foster should go on loan and come back at the end of the season ready to fight for his place in the team. Just because he had a good match, it doesn't mean he's 100% ready to play as no.1 goalie. VDS and Kuzsczak had good displays this so far this season so I don't think Fergie would choose Foster over these two.

PIG is an acronym for Pole In Goal. Too difficult to spell his name to be honest.

I'm willing to bet that Foster isn't registered in CL competition. If thats the case, then it would make sense for Foster to go out on loan once VDS returns from injury.

He really should go out and get matches under his belt and be fit and ready to go challenge next season for the starting GK spot.

Interested to see how this all plays out.

And why do you think he should leave? Just because of the match against Portsmouth? Let me remind you that there wasn't such a strong contact between Kuzsczak and Baros, and IMO it was more of a simulation than a penalty. No, no. Kuzsczak must stay. He is an awesome goalie, and he proved it again last night, against Bolton!

no actually, i can't stand him because he has the flexibility of cat, but lacks any of the abilities a top quality keeper needs to control the defense, or protect from set pieces. look at his stats. all the goals against are set pieces goals and if theyaren't, it's because of 1v1, which is another weakness. let's not mention his inability to kick a fucking ball upfield. useless.

I have to disagree. Yesterday his kicks were very precise, and I really can't complain about him at the moment. Plus Kuszczak has played only 7 matches this season. How can you expect him to improve if he doesn't play often enough.
The most important is that SAF knows what he's doing, and I don't think he made a mistake buying Tomasz.
But if we sell him, we'll have to buy another keeper, 'cause after VDS's retirement we'll have only Foster and Heaton.
One thing is for sure: he needs to improve to stay.

Loan Foster to a PL club or Ch club for the last month just to get a bit of 1st team practice.

VDS will have 1 season left then Foster should be the regular for the Reds
