Daily Mail EXCLUSIVE 10 clubs fight for Argie wonderkid

Wonderboy Franco Di Santo will arrive in England this week and take his pick from TEN Premier League clubs chasing his signature.

The 18-year-old Argentine striker is hailed as the one of the world's top emerging talents.

Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea all want to discuss a one-year loan deal.

That would cost them about £500,000, but the big deal would come next summer when Di Santo would cost around £10million in a permanent transfer.
As well as the Premier League's big four, Di Santo is also wanted by Middlesbrough, Everton, Tottenham, Portsmouth, Blackburn and Manchester City.

The 6ft 4in youngster plays in Chile for Audax Italiano and has been described as the most exciting talent to emerge in South America since Diego Maradona.

United thought they had stolen a march on their rivals after Sir Alex Ferguson received rave reviews about him.

But United's weren't able to secure his signature before other clubs were alerted to Di Santo's precocious talent.

seems to me every argentian that can kick or run is "the next maradona"...

but if he really is that good, i hope we get him.

he is 6 ft 4 so that might give us a different option upfront too...

Chelsea have signed the 6ft 4in Argentinian striker Franco di Santo from Chilean side Audax Italiano on a five-year contract.

The player travelled to London from Argentina on Tuesday, with his agent Gustavo Goni saying the only hold-up was agreeing a percentage of any subsequent transfer fee with Audax Italiano. The fee is thought to be in the region of £3.4million.




Di Santo has no need for a work permit because he has an Italian passport from his great-grandfather's heritage.


As a striker he is in the same mould as Liverpool's Peter Crouch, quick on and off the ball and has developed a good eye for goal. He had a good campaign in the Copa Libertadores (South America's equivalent of the Champions League) and caught the eye of Palermo, Udinese and Dinamo Kiev before Chelsea secured his signature.

He has played for Argentina's Under 20s in their South American championship and despite being left out of the Youth World Cup squad in Canada last July he is seen as possessing genuine international promise.

This kid is clearly on a downward spiral. When the thread started last August, he was a wonderkid. By January, he was merely the next Peter Crouch. If he carries on at this rate, he might become the next Ali Dia.

nobody is chasing him now, because he has signed for chelsea
