Default United set their sights on Fluminese goal machine Neves - 04-30-2008, 11:13 PM

Does anyone have clips or any knowledge of this chap?

IF United were to pursue him, who would leave in midfield?

Quote:
Manchester United are considering a summer bid for Brazilian attacking midfielder Thiago Neves.

The 23-year-old late developer was voted the Brazilian league's best player last year after scoring 12 goals in 33 games from midfield for Fluminense.

He is under contract until 2010 at the Rio de Janeiro club but is expected to leave after their assault on the Copa Libertadores - South America's equivalent of the Champions League.

His range of passing and an eye for shooting at goal from distance would draw Old Trafford comparisons with veteran midfielder Paul Scholes.

Neves made his international debut when coming on as a substitute during Brazil's 1-0 win against Sweden at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium last month.

A fee has not yet been discussed, but the Brazilians are well aware they could not resist the spending power of the English champions.

He would join Brazil midfielder Anderson at Old Trafford, with full backs Rafael and Fabio - 18-year-old twins signed from Fluminense - also eligible to play for United from the start of next season.

ive heard some things about this lad, not been able to watch any of his matches though.

as its saying he is a late developer, you never know, could be another david bently type player, in the fact he has flourished later than most who will flourush do.

He definitely looks like a quality player (plus hes 6 ft in a period where I'm tired of midgets at Utd). Only thing though is we are stacked in midfield at the moment and there are many options out there of quality with solid Euro experience if we were actually looking to strengthen that department.

Quite frankly I'm really hoping to see an "Adebyor like" striker who can be a target man upfront, hold the ball and bring the midfield in to the game. Tevez and Rooney or even Saha are not quite physically suitable for that particular role in my opinion. So, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for a while...lol....

Regarding this kid, he sure looks promising, but they all do in an edited video. I've seen Huntelaar in a few live matches and he really does look promising. But then one might argue that Dutch league is not the hardest, so he might be a very big gamble.

One legendary striker Man Utd had was Ruud van Nistelrooy, and he was bought from PSV ,which is a team from the Dutch League. Was it a gamble?Btw,The Italian League is the hardest because of its tactical playing. The Dutch League was always a provider for the national squad and we all know that The Netherlands threatened for long periods not only Europe, but the whole world with some phenomenal football, played over the years.

The Brazilian midfielder,Thiago Neves, is good if he scored so many goals from midfield. In the Brazilian League you have to be a creative machine to score and now he might just be closely marked by other clubs, but i hope that Man Utd brake the resistance of Fluminense, giving them a nice transfer fee.
