It's come to my attention after brief chat surrounding what I posted that I do not want people to get too caught up with the mere mention of the name Henry. Me using his name as an example (kinda like using Agbonlahor earlier, which also was met with derision) is besides the point. I'm glad you saw what I was primarily focusing on, rawdon.

tbh, a player like henry would be very good and would suit united. Henry has a re-occuring injury and i doubt he would ever go to united anyway or fergie would want him after saying ruud was better than him all those years back... But a player like him, if there is one, would be great for united.

I think a player with droba's style of play would also be very complimentary to united's current strike force. An experienced physical presence is needed and with players like giggs, ronaldo, nani, evra that make good crosses, a tall striker who can head the ball would fit the bill nicely. I dont want drogba but someone who has a similar style, perhaps benzema?

I would hate to see drogba himself here because he is a moaning shit who constantly thinks the grass is greener on the other side. A bit like berbatov in that sense.

But in all honesty, i wont be suprised if united bought a player from under our radars and surprise a few people.

p/s what a few people fail to realise about selling saha to another club is that there needs to be a club out there that will be dumb enough to take him.

anyone got keegan's number?

A short term fix imo would work if United were struggling for cash or they had numerous positions to fill.

The truth of the matter is United really have to fill/upgrade in two positions and they are ready to challenge again.

I really do see Sir Alex laying down the team for years to come on a platter for the next manager. The manager won't have massive changes to make. They can focus on the fixture list and not the transfer market.

That being said, in order for this to happen, United will continue with their youth policy. Would be shocked if a player over 26 comes to the club.

IF we could get a player like Henry who is under 26 great. Henry himself.
He has been a moaning diva at Barcelona.

I'll even toss in another player from Barcelona. Samuel Eto'o.

World Class striker whose playing style and strengths would perfectly complement Manchester United.

The fact that he has stated his desire to play in the Premiership along with his rumoured valuation [which still seems unbelievably low to me] of 15 million pounds would be ideal for United.

I'm sure a player exchange plus cash could work. Pique + cash for Eto'o. Barcelona really want Pique back and United would be getting a player that fills a direct need in return.

Note 1: My list has now increased to 3. Any of Huntelaar, Benzema or Eto'o would be just fine with me. The key is a striker that stilll has many years left to play, has European experience and can quickly settle into the swing of things.

Note 2: I'm a big Pique fan, but the question has to be asked. Where does he get games? Rio and Vidic are going to be holding down central defense for years to come. Rightback will probably addressed this summer and the defensive midfield spot is filled. Pique was fortunate enough to get 9 games this year. What are the chances he gets more next?

If we were to pick up a stirker I think it would have to be Benzema. From what I've seen he s a pretty perfect striker(though highlight reels and cup ties don't show the full picture). I also see that his game can only improve under SAF's tutelage.

I think SAF can also handle any problems that might crop up such as the occassional swift kick to the chest on a fan. However, I don't know what exactly the problem is between he and Ben Arfa. Silas, you said that he causes problems, but do you know that or are you just saying that b/c you 've wanted Klaas here since the dawn of time. Is he the instigator, b/c on during the cup tie, they were saying that its Ben Arfa that is the problem.

********FRANCE SPOILERS********

how about this fellah?

his name is Gomis, this is his debut appearance for france where he comes on as a sub.

1 game isnt enough to judge him i know, but this fellah look to be pretty decent. Reminds me of drogba a bit.

I really like Huntelaar and I have seen many comments how he's to much like RVN and that he would change the style we play.

The difference is, this team won't revolve around Huntelaar, the style of play is not based on a single player and I think Huntelaar would adapt, score less than in Holland sure but prove to be a valuable player.

I think he has more potential than Benzema, allthough at a short glance Benzema "feels" like United style, but we just need something a bit different than what we all ready have.

Berbatov would be a good signing but not first choice.

And I saw a few comments back that SAF could surprise us with a young unknown jewel,he could but I really think this summer we're buying a big name or a well known talent.

I've voted for Benzema. He is like a young Cantona to me with a future of huge greatness. The potential there is almost endless. Brilliant talent.

He is just 20 years old, yet he's got the whole world talking about him.
The Euro2008 can be the venue for him to show everyone what he is capable of.

Yes, he won't come cheep. And it is to his credit that a kid his age wants to stick to his boyhood club, showing loyalty that very few footballers these days possess.

But he would've been the most exciting buy of the summer for me.

If I had to pick one player I would hate to see at United - it's Berbatov! Lazy and useless.
