Default United Close in on Tevez!! - 07-06-2007, 06:47 AM

Official Report:

United close on Tevez swoop

Widespread reports claim Manchester United are homing in on the signing of Carlos Tevez.
The Argentine striker is currently on international duty at the Copa America, but rumours of a move to Old Trafford are gathering pace.
Tevez spent last season at West Ham United and scored at Old Trafford on the final day of the campaign to keep the club in the Premier League.
But he is expected to leave Upton Park over the summer, having already opted against joining Italian champions Internazionale.
He has admitted a switch to Real Madrid would hold some appeal, while Arsenal have also been linked with the mercurial front man.
However, reports now suggest Tevez will sign for United in a deal reputed to be worth in the region of £20million.
Sir Alex Ferguson is a long-term fan of the 23-year-old, but has reportedly been waiting for the issue of Tevez's registration to be cleared up.
If United do complete a deal for the former Corinthians star, he would become the fourth major signing of the summer for the Premier League champions following the captures of Anderson, Nani and Owen Hargreaves.

Well that was the official report from Skysports. Skysports reporter were outside Old trafford yesterday and they said Tevez's representatives were in there negotiating a deal to transfer Tevez to Manchester United. Its also noted that the deal will be done very soon within the range of 24-36 hrs. The deal is supposed to be a 2 year long loan with an option to buy at the end. Initial reports suggest that United will pay 6m over the course of 2 year loan and then a hefty payment on 10m-15m pound will be paid at the end if United wish to secure his services permanently.

Tevez' Reaction:

Tevez eager for United switch

Carlos Tevez has welcomed the news that he is set to be transferred to Manchester United.
The Red Devils are set to tie up a deal for the 23-year-old, who is currently in Venezuela competing in the Copa America with Argentina.
The Premier League have already warned United that any deal for Tevez must include West Ham, rather than the player's agent Kia Joorabchian - but it would seem a deal is very close.
Tevez, linked with most of Europe's biggest clubs including Real Madrid and Internazionale, has welcomed the news that he is set to sign for United.
"For me, Manchester United will be a sensational destination and to be a member of Sir Alex Ferguson's squad will be absolutely spectacular," Tevez is quoted in the Daily Mail.
"My dream is to be an idol in English football and I can achieve this now.
"I am a player who thrives on challenges. I went to England to triumph in the Premiership and with West Ham I have achieved that first stage.
"Now I'm ready to move on to the next stage."
Should, as expected, United seal Tevez's signing, then he will become their fourth signing of the summer following Nani, Anderson and Owen Hargreaves into Old Trafford.

Its no secret that tevez is a United fan. He has been fined by his club to attend a press confrence in united jersey. During the end of the season in his interview his love for United was quite obvious. He joined our title celebration party as well. He seems to have his mind set on a move to Old Trafford. He has rejected clubs like Inter and Real which shows you his personal wish for a move to Man Utd.

indead

but does anyone here feel him and rooney have way too much in common?

- size
- style of play (kinda similar, they both come into midfield a lot) etc

and also, why buy him noe for 20 million when fergie came out publivly to state he rejected him for 15 million last year?

anyhow, good luck to him, he did a lot at west ham in the end

absolutely. they're the same type of player and of similar age. Maybe you can mold Tevez to a more frontal player, but we definitely don't need him. That much is for sure.

But Tevez is an amazing player who will definitely fit into the fluid style of play that we have. He should definitely come. Reports indicate he should join by next week.

West Ham set to agree Tevez deal

Striker Tevez is desperate to move to Old Trafford
West Ham and Carlos Tevez's advisors will confirm on Friday that they have reached an agreement over the striker's registration, Five Live understands.
With the threat of High Court action on 22 August hanging over negotiations, talks have been ongoing this week.

BBC Five Live's Nigel Adderley said: "A settlement has been reached, and that could be ratified by the Premier League and Football Association on Friday."

It is thought Tevez's advisors MSI will pay West Ham between £1m and £3m.

That will free the 23-year-old Argentine to complete a move to Manchester United, whose manager Sir Alex Ferguson has made no secret of his desire to sign the player.

Tevez's switch to United had stalled over who will be paid the transfer fee.

The problem if you go to court is that neither side can truly predict the outcome

The Premier League and West Ham say the Hammers should receive the fee but Kia Joorabchian's companies MSI and Just Sports Inc claim they own the striker's economic rights.

Adderley explained: "West Ham need to reach a settlement which proves to the Premier League they are the significant beneficiaries of any transfer involving Tevez."

Tevez, meanwhile, has said he expects to join United, adding: "To play for a super-club like Manchester United without any pre-season work behind me is going to be a real handicap."

YYEESSSS!!!!....Finally Tevez a United player. I know some of you guys think that he is not that good but he is exactly what we need. I was really surprised when no one bid for him after the world cup performance. He played a big part in that 6-0 argentina win in the world cup group stage. And when he came to West Ham, many said that he cannot play in the premier league but he did and brilliantly. i'm really glad we have him, He is ligtning quick with a hunger for goal. You guys will see.
