I could quit Manchester United for Bordeaux, admits Silvestre

Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre admits he could be tempted by a move to Bordeaux, provided the French club can meet his salary demands.

Les Girondins coach Laurent Blanc has declared his interest in the France international, whose season has been disrupted by knee injuries.

Silvestre's contract at United runs until the summer of 2009, but the former Rennes player is not discounting a return to his native country if the offer is good enough.

"It isn't impossible," the 30-year-old told a press conference.

"Bordeaux is a club which is close to my heart. When I was little, I followed their exploits in Europe. Moreover, I have family in the Gironde region.

"But each player has to be satisfied in a sporting sense as well as financially.

"There are no gifts handed out here. I am not a good Samaritan."

Silvestre, who has also played for Internazionale, missed most of United's latest title-winning campaign with a knee injury he suffered in September.

He returned towards the end of the season but he is unlikely to make France's squad for next month's European Championships in Austria and Switzerland.

I know may of you would like to see him gone but I don't. He's been very useful and loyal. He played very well against Roma(the second leg), which was his only match this season if I'm not mistaken.

Yep he did well against roma... Well for players, they look firstly for playing times and its not the case at OT for him will SAF really appreciate his way of playing... but the final decision will be in his hand...

I think he might stay at OT for next season at least before thinking of leaving the club...

He has been part of united first team in many matches... fans will surely remember about his days at OT whatever happen...

I'd keep him.

He lacks concentration at times when playing at centre-back, but he tends to be more reliable at left-back and is the ideal type of player to have in the squad should Evra pick up an injury.

I guess at this stage in his career though he'll probably want to play regularly, so a move might appeal to him.

hasnt exactly been my favourite player over the years and im sure first team football is appealing to him at this stage of his career however maybe the cover is needed at left back. im sure fergie wouldnt stand in his way if he wanted to leave

I hope he doesn't leave. He scored his first goal for United during the first United match I ever watched. He's always been a pretty solid defender despite the fact that he seems to attract every football to his arms or hands.
