Default United targets Martins - 08-21-2007, 04:55 AM

United seem to be after a striker and Obefemi Martins is the latest striker to garner interest. Would be a great addition, but he lacks some height as well... HOWEVER... he has tremendous jumping ability, can head the ball quite well and is a pretty decent finisher. 13 million buyout.

Would be some great business for SAF imo.

13 wouldn't be good business IMO. I think we shoudl go for another striker around 5-7 mil who can just fill the role for a few months. Why not look for another loan deal? Plus when everyone comes back, where would Martins fit in? Would we want to pay 13 mil for someone who we can't put above the 4th spot in striker rankings at the club?

Oh yeah, i'm back!!

why...why is berbatov better? martins provides youth, speed and seems more capable as a long term investment. secondly he's a hell of a lot cheaper at 13 million pounds.

martins and rooney would be a great partnership

if we can keep saha fit and healthy then we dont really need berbatov.

mind you, berbatov would offer a lot and is an extremely good team player and would compliment both rooney and saha well. he can also hold up the ball pretty well and can use his height.

both would be great signings, fergie will probably go for whats lacking in the side atm, berbatov has the height, elegance and calm finish, while martins has speed, power and more flare.

you really think so. two goals given up in 6 games. i mean even without gary "the red" neville, we're still in great shape.

personally i think there is a problem, i don't know what it is, but it isn't possession and it isn't the defense. in my mind it has to be at the front and our finishing. Louis Saha's inclusion in the second half against sunderland was enough proof for me.

I think we definitely have to get some bodies in on defense as well as on offense. Yes we have a solid defensive record but as it stands now we cant afford to lose a single player because of our lack of depth. Behind Evra we really have no quality there. Woulda been nice to have bought Bale but at the time I doubt many seriously thought we would have lost Heinze then Silvestre. Gary Neville isnt getting any younger and God knows that if he comes back and then picks up another knock I wouldnt be surprised at all if he pulled an Ole on us. Wes Brown is not the man to start matches at right back for us, sorry. In the centre I think we are doing fine, Vidic and Ferdinand are dependable fellas and we have ample players who could step in and do a decent job.
