Default Parma: United to sell Rossi - 07-06-2007, 06:39 PM

This is not the news that I wanted to read. But if Tevez comes in, well that would be 3 similar forwards... unfortunate for Rossi if he is sold. I had high hopes for him...

Quote:
Manchester United are willing to sell Giuseppe Rossi, according to Parma president Tommaso Ghirardi.

The Gialloblu have already made an offer for the Italian striker, who had a successful spell on loan with the Italian club last season.

Rossi may be surplus to requirements should United complete the signing of Argentina international striker Carlos Tevez.

Parma have not wasted any time in trying to take the 20-year-old hit-man back to the Stadio Ennio Tardini over the summer.

Ghirardi is waiting to hear back from The Red Devils whether they have been successful in their bid for Rossi, but remains hopeful of landing his man.

"Manchester United have put Giuseppe Rossi up for sale," Ghirardi told Italian press.

"Two days ago we spoke with Red Devils officials and they told us the player is for sale.

"At that point we made an offer. Now we are waiting for an answer."

Rossi's nine goals in 19 games for Parma last term were crucial in helping keep the club in Serie A.

I am hoping this all is false. I am saying this because I know Fergie has been rejecting offers for Rossi for a while now, surely that means that he rates Rossi highly and he is in his plans. After Ole, Rossi is the only player at club who has a good finishing ability. We must not sell as I can see us regretting the decision in near future.

I simply think he needs to leave, he's been unlucky last season not to be used when he could have had a chance. I dont see SAF really giving him the chance he deserves to play.

IMHO he's better off returning to Italy and carving out a career there.

fergie came today to confirm that we are not looking to get rid of players. However if a player feels he needs to leave for the betterment of his career he will be allowed to.

i have to agree. it's just looking quite dim in the lads future with united. he's so young still and i'd love to see him stay on. I wonder if he was taller and had some ability to head the ball, if we wouldn't have already put him in.
