Would be a good signing indeed. If they do decide to go this route then I hope they start negotiations quickly and wrap it up in time for the window to start.

I hope the history won't be repeating (Ballack) and we'll get him. He would be a great signing!

Default Lahm To United? - 04-30-2008, 12:04 PM

Evra And Brown are the best full backs in the world at the moment. signing another full back (who could fill there place) will only unsettle them. Danny simpson is good enough cover for Brown and Neville has two years left in him yet. we need a young left back tho to cover for evra or Silvestre if they cant play. Lahm is 24 at least £10 million and i dont think we really need him.£10 million towards a quality 30 goals-a-season (non injury-prone) striker.

Evra is great, but just a few weeks ago while Brown was delaying signing a new deal, a lot of posts in this forum highlighted Brown's weaknesses (and rightly so). I'm not sure we can really count Brown as one of he best fullbacks in the world (now, or ever). He has done a job with Neville out, but if anything he has highlighted that we are actually a little weak in that area. Thank heavens we have Hargreaves. But I don't want to see Hargo's real value in midfield blunted by him having to play at full-back.

It's your first post so i'll let you off a bit. Wes Brown is nowhere near being the best fullback in the world. In fact, he's a horrible fullback....but a very decent defender. To be a top fullback you need pace/stamina, creativity and good passing/crossing. Brown only has 1 of these, take a guess which it is.

which one? he lacks all of those characteristics...he does have strength and aggression in loads, but not sure what else you thought you were getting with him as a right back

I'll guess Dimz was referring to stamina though I'm not so sure why he would lay down that massive diss.
