indeed Saha is a great player, but his injury problem make him can not show his full abilities to be a great player.... i think it's time for united to sign another striker....

The lyon president always comes out and says he never wants to sell any of his players but always does. Essien, Diarra, abidal they were all sold but the money has to be right. i really hope united do get benzema what i have seen of him on setanta and in the champions league he does have something about him.

Benzema says he's not ready:

Karim Benzema claims he would reject a possible summer move to Manchester United because he wants to win the UEFA Champions League with Lyon.

Manchester United chief Sir Alex Ferguson has been linked with a bid for the French international striker at the end of the season as he bids to bolster his attacking ranks.

However, Benzema - who is the current top scorer in Ligue 1 with 16 goals - insists he would snub any possible switch to Old Trafford. News of the World.

"I have said I wouldn't leave Lyon until we've won the Champions League and I have no intention of trying to go too quickly."

I think this is a load of bollocks, theirs is no way that Lyon is going to win the CHampions League any time soon, maybe he's just trying to get UNited to fold?

This release comes right after:

Man Utd's Fergie admits admiration for Benzema, Ben Arfa:

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted his interest in Olympique Lyon attacking pair Karim Benzema and Hatem Ben Arfa.

Ferguson was a guest of Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas last weekend and told the Sunday Times: "The president's hospitality was wonderful, the food was terrific, the wine even better.

"We never discussed any footballers."

He owned up, though, to the fact that Benzema is "a possibility" - short of an actual bid, as strong a declaration he wants a player that Ferguson will ever make.

"It [striker] is an area we tried to strengthen last summer and I don't think that's left us. I have big hopes for [Danny] Welbeck and he's progressing well but he's young. And we have [Frazier] Campbell coming back who has done well at Hull, but he's young as well," said Ferguson.

"Benzema is only 20 and Ben Arfa is also 20. Lyons produce young players and Benzema is a local boy, which I'm sure gives them pride."

Benzema would be a far greater perspective than Berbatov, but i am afraid we will never get Benzema..and Berbatov is more suitable for English Premier League...
Ben Arfa...great,great playermay be a move to Old Trafford in the near future will prove to be a high boost to the team..until then lets relax..cuz we are not going to get them until 2011,i think...Its interesting how Ferguson will attract these two classy players to United...

Default Karim Benzema - 02-23-2008, 02:48 AM

We all saw what the lad is capable of in the Cl fixture against Lyon.

Only 20 years of age this would be the perfect signing up front with Rooney and Tevez, as Saha is struggling...

His tender age aside, Benzema was a constant threat to Rio and Vidic, as he is quite a big boy, another type of player than Rooney and Tevez.

Comments on the young frenchie?

it's obvious now that he is a quality player (imo he should be starting among Anelka for Les Bleus), but I don't think there a realistic chance that we would get him. We all heard Aulas' point of view, so it will take smth really great to lure him away from Stade Gerland, the kind that Real Madrid always provides...

He's gonna be a truly great player and i think that maybe we should trade Saha + money for him. The next season Manuchu are (probably) coming aswell, and Rooney, Tévez, Benzema and Manucho would be a great striking force.

I'd rather walk alone.

it will be difficult to keep all those quality strikers (Manucho won't mind being a backup player, but the rest of them should be rotated very carefully). However I don't think that Saha + money is really an option (for Lyon), I mean...how much money?

I would like him to play for MU.

Yes it would mean that we would have to sell Saha. And probably rotate quite a bit.

Someone said to me that Saha has the efficience of Fred the Red, and the last probably has more purpose. I have to disagree, but only slightly. He was amazing once. He is not anymore. I love him and respect him, but if I have to chose between buying Benzema or keeping Saha, I would chose the former.

benzema is even better then Torres, and God knows the bloke is really good, his today's hat-trick pulled the scousers out of a big pile of s**t.

So I say, bring him on.

4 strickers for a top team - is not too many!

As much as I'd like to see him here rather than chelsea, etc
I think he will end up in spain if he leaves Lyon and from the
noises he is making and if u believe him he b there 4 at 2-3 yrs
plus we have Saha and Manucho as back up so spend the money on a top
goalkeeper and a right back in case Gary nev doesn't come back.
