Default Alan Hutton to join reds? - 12-27-2007, 11:04 AM

Sir Alex Ferguson could be going home to Glasgow for his next signing if the UK's tabloid newspapers are to be believed.

In its preview of the January transfer window, The Sun claims a right-back is the priority for United and names Rangers' Alan Hutton as a potential £6m target.

my opinion: sure for backup, but i would prefer lahm or sagnol.

this isnt just tabloid talk. Fergie went out and praised hutton earlier this season for his performances for scotland which sparked speculation that we want to sign hutton.

from what ive seen of hutton he really isnt bad, but he really isnt spectacular.

With brown set to go and neville still 2 weeks away from fitness and has been 2 weeks away for 12 months, i think whoever we will bring in will be our first choice right back. I dont know if hutton is good enough for that. lahm is immense but he wont come cheap.

i trust fergie's judgment though. Not many people new vida and evra when we signed them and now they are playing great for united and have made a name for themselves.

Hutton seems like he could be great in the future, I'd be happy with him, course I would prefer Lahm but Hutton is still a good signing imo and for a fraction of the price BM would want for Lahm

sagnol .. nah . id prefer hutton

not seen much , but looked good in the few SPL games that were on TV and the CL games

would love lahm .. plays on either side and is a great player .. but this is more likely ..

oh is he good? how good? a little good or a lot good? Do we really need a backup? I personally would rather not have any sort of backup and just play with 10 men in every match, maybe in dresses, nice red and black plaid dresses....

how about you not spam your way to 35 posts. I understand you like being fisted by Jim Hansen, but let's save that for a forum worthy of shite posts.

it's amazing that you and the dozens before you think that we as senior members don't notice. If it isn't obvious what happens to pathetic posters, let me give you a few examples.

As some other people have said if we are going to find a replacement for Gary Neville then we should definately go for Phillip Lahm (he oozes class, can use both feet and is vesatile full back) . However knowing Fergie, he is hell bent on having some sort of Scottish world talent at United and hollywood united's reluctancy in selling one of their best talents to united, I think we will end up with Hutton.

Rangers fans adore Alan hutton, he is good and breaking up play, and good at attacking, from what I remember he put in a superb cross for the opening goal for Rangers in the Old Firm Derby. To be honest he looked really good in the old firm, ran Celtic ragged and kept on bombarding their box with quality crosses and some good runs down the right wing. I won't be against the move as we will be getting a good right back with potential to improve loads under Sir Alex.

However given the choice, I'd go for Lahm.

awesome post! now that gets you some karma points

the other great thing I've noticed about Hutton is his size. The lad is big and will help in defending in the air. For me I wanted to know your opinions on his attacking ability and how well he can mimick Gazza's greatest strengths - his crosses and overlapping.

oshea is also big, but his attacking ability is below the average.

i think its the same thing for hutton - big, good defending, bad attacking. but i can tell that he is better than oshea
i saw him playing few times in scotland and rangers, he didnt impress me so much.
