for all you youngins that have no clue what Starcraft is, it's the greatest RTS in existance and is still played professionally at gaming tournaments. it's the sex, old sex, but still the sex. I'm a particularly big fan of zerg so i'll be posting mainly about them, but if you're in the mood, you can go ahead and post up on the others.
StarCraft is a military science fiction real-time strategy video game by Blizzard Entertainment and the first product in the StarCraft series. It was initially released for Microsoft Windows in 1998. A Mac OS version of the game was released in 1999, and a port to the Nintendo 64 was released in 2000. The main storyline follows a war among three galactic species: the adaptable and mobile Terrans, who are descendants of Human outcasts from Earth; the hive mind arthropodal Zerg; and the psionic humanoid Protoss warriors.
StarCraft was the best-selling computer game in 1998[1] and won the Origins Award for Best Strategy Computer Game of that year.[2] StarCraft was listed on IGN's "Top 100 Games of All Time" featured as seventh, and in 2006 received a Star on the Walk of Game at Metreon, San Francisco. It is especially popular in South Korea, where professional players and teams participate in matches, earn sponsorships, and compete in televised tournaments.[3] As of May 21, 2007, StarCraft has sold 9.5 million copies worldwide,[4][5] with 4.5 million of those copies being sold in South Korea.[4] Blizzard initially intended to continue the story with the tactical shooter StarCraft: Ghost, which was later put on hold indefinitely. The sequel, StarCraft II, was announced on May 19, 2007 in Seoul, South Korea.
StarCraft's gameplay centers on the acquisition and control of two resources: minerals and vespene gas. They are harvested by worker units. Minerals, which are required for all normal units, appear as blue crystalline formations protruding from the ground. Vespene gas, which is required for advanced units and upgrades, appears as a geyser with green clouds erupting from it. A refinery of some sort must be constructed before worker units can harvest the vespene gas.
Some buildings allow the creation of new units, while others upgrade the players' forces or allow more advanced units or structures to be built. Each of a player's units demands a certain quantity of supply, which is provided by buildings or units particular to each race. Players must maintain enough supply to support their forces, lest they become temporarily unable to produce additional units. In standard games, the maximum amount of supply that can be used at any time for each controlled race is two hundred, limiting the total number of units any player may have.
The selection of units available to each species defines its racial identity. Protoss marshal powerful and expensive warriors and machinery, while Zerg rely on sheer numbers and speed to overwhelm their opponents. Terrans are the versatile and flexible alternative to both races, relying on fragile but powerful units that can be very effective when used in formations. No species has an innate advantage over any other. The balance between species has been the subject of numerous gameplay tweaks introduced via infrequent updates.
Resource management, expansion to control resource locations, and effective offensive and defensive combat tactics are key to victory. In order to excel, players must develop the ability to perform both micro- and macro-management simultaneously. Micromanagement includes moving units into certain formations and maneuvering them on the map or in battle, while using their different combinations of abilities and numbers to full advantage. This unique skill requirement distinguishes StarCraft from many other, more modern real-time strategy games, the latter performing many of the strategic organizational arrangements with active assistance from the game's artificial intelligence.
StarCraft II Zerg Unit List
All the monsters in the game so far.

March 10, 2008 - If you don't enjoy reading our generally fractured prose in previews we post from events, here's a more convenient list of all the Zerg units we saw in StarCraft II. Included in the descriptions are their names, a general overview of what they can do, what type of armor they have, and if they can burrow. Armor types in StarCraft II come in three flavors: light, armored, and building. As you might expect, building armor is reserved mostly for buildings.
After you've finished perusing the generally fractured prose in the unit list, check out our Zerg structure list to start pre-planning your build orders.
Larva – The Zerg's most basic unit. Spawns from Hatchery / Lair / Hive in groups of three. Can be ordered to morph into Drone, Overlord, Zergling, Roach, Hydralisk, Nydus Worm, Infestor, Mutalisk, Corruptor, and Ultralisk. Light armor.
Drone – Build unit, capable of constructing basic and advanced structures. Has a weak melee attack. Can burrow. Light armor.
Overlord – Unit cap is increased with each Overlord produced. Once fully upgraded has a slime ability which stops a resource node from functioning and can continuously generate creep. It floats above the ground, can morph into an overseer, and has no detect ability. Armored unit.
Overseer – A morphed version of the Overlord. Expands your range of sight on the battlefield the longer it remains still, and can detect hidden units.
Queen – Built from your Hatchery / Lair / Hive, the Queen is an upgradeable builder and defense unit. You're limited to one at a time. Her abilities include creep tumor (creates creep generating node), swarm clutch (lays eggs that spawn when hive is attacked, gains a range bonus from shriekers), deep tunnel (queen tunnels deep underground and surfaces at targeted zerg buildings), regeneration (targeted zerg building or has a number of its hit points restored) swarm infestation (makes a zerg building launch attacks at the enemy in the form of little glowing flies), and toxic creep (does damage over time to affected area of creep). As your Hatchery is upgraded to Lair and Hive, your Queen can be upgraded as well, growing in size and eventually allowing access to her full range of skills. Can burrow. Light armor in her Hatchery form.
Zergling – Small, quick ground units. Two produced per Larva. Can attack other ground units or morph into banelings. Can burrow. Light armor.
Baneling – Rolls rapidly along ground and into enemies at which point it detonates, killing itself in the process. Can burrow. Light armor.
Roach – Can attack air and ground units and has extremely fast hit point regeneration. Can burrow. Armored unit.
Hydralisk – Fast ranged attacker that can hit air and ground units. Can evolve into lurker. Can burrow. Light armor.
Lurker – Fire support unit, has to be burrowed to attack, then sends underground spikes at opponents to bust them up. Obviously, this thing can burrow.
Nydus Worm – Can mutate into nydus canal. Units can then be loaded in and accessed from any nydus warren or other canal. Can also be loaded with more units and then morphed back into a worm for unit transport. Armored unit.
Infestor – Caster type, can use dark swarm (generates a smoke screen that prevents units under its protection from taking ranged damage), disease (does damage equal to 95% of total unit's health within 10 seconds, and spreads between units) and infestation (takes over an enemy structure, causing it to spawn infested Terran units for 20 seconds). Can burrow. Light armor.
Mutalisk – Fast flying unit that can attack air and ground. Can morph into a Swarm Guardian. Light armor.
Swarm Guardian – Heavy assault air unit that fires explosives at foes on the ground. Armored unit.
Ultralisk – Heavy assault melee unit with mandible blades that do area-of-effect damage when swung. Has a special head attack it uses on structure which does more damage than the blades. Can burrow. Armored unit.
Corruptor – Anti-air will corrupt instead of destroy enemies, turning them to your side. Armored unit.

There is a reason I bleed red. United until I die.
The ten year aniversary just passed, and while I was joking about it with my friends 5 years ago, i'm now far passed my teens and a bit distant from the gaming world. It will be strange for me to go back and I think this is probably the only game that could bring me back to gaming on a regular basis. It's a real make or break for me personally. Not that Blizzard needs my dollars. They won't be able to stamp enough of this game.
